OffPage optimization is a sub-discipline of search engine optimization. The goal is to influence those ranking factors that express the position and importance of a website within the WWW. On the one hand, these are backlinks, which are links that lead to one’s own page and that show the search engines the degree of networking and the relevance of the offer. On the other hand, mentions of one’s own offer, even without a link, are an indicator of the interest that the website has in the information and / or product offerings it contains. Consequently, with OffPage optimization, all link building activities areas well as the area of inbound marketing meant. The nature and origin of backlinks as well as mentions, which can generally be regarded as a recommendation, continue to be important ranking factors and are consequently important for the results of the organic search. With our different link building strategies, we aim to make your site more popular and better rankings, hence better visibility.
The internet consists of about one billion websites, which usually contain outgoing links to other pages. Search engines, especially Google, weight and rate these links based on different criteria.
The linked page will then have important and valuable backlinks if those links are from topic-related or complementary pages, google-compliant, and the link can increase traffic. A healthy backlink profile through the appropriate procedure for off-page optimization to build, ultimately helps to good rankings in Google, which in turn allow that the website on the internet can be found better.
We usually start OffPage optimization with a detailed backlink analysis . Here we evaluate the quantitative and qualitative aspects of each link. This detailed analysis of the current backlinks of your website is the basic work that enables us to determine the correct course of action for the following activities. Please note: In the course of the analysis, we need access to the Google Webmaster Tools for your website, so we can have all of Google’s backlink samples, which will give us all the data we need to do that work. With the help of the various tools for OffPage optimization, we can identify any abnormalities in the backlink profile and view and evaluate them in detail as part of the analysis.
We evaluate the determined backlink data taking into account the respective market segment. So we do not make any statements about the value of a link without putting it in relation to the specific characteristics and opportunities within an industry. Therefore, it is standard practice for us to compare the backlink data of your website with the backlink data of your direct competitors and to deal with what seems feasible and reasonable within a segment.
We check the following backlink data of your domain:
This ratio describes the ratio of the absolute number of all backlinks to the number of linking domains. A calculation example for this:
The first value differs slightly from that of the competitor and is not particularly noticeable. The worse the value of the domain ratio is, the more problems with so-called site-wide links has a page: This type of links is available on all pages of the linking domain, is usually integrated in the footer or in the sidebar and often violates Google policies. Namely, because it is clear that the link is not a substantive recommendation, but above all to increase the absolute number of links, an intent that was rated 10 years ago by search engines, but now in particular by the Penguin update from Google is assessed as an inadmissible SEO measure.
This value reflects how the percentage relationship between links to the homepage of a website and links to the subpages is created. Basically, it can be interpreted that the lack of links to subpages is due to the fact that there seems to be little linkable content below the start page. However, we also take into account the industry comparison, because it applies: If the deep link ratio deviates too much from that of the direct competitors, this can represent an unnatural picture for Google and cause unwanted consequences, which ultimately up to a penalty or falling rankings can reach.
The percentage of backlinks that show “rel = nofollow” on your website should be proportionate to the “follow” links. No-follow backlinks are not tracked by Google and are not used to calculate rankings. Nevertheless, they are part of a natural link profile. For this reason, we make sure that there is no unnatural “nofollow” ratio (eg, very low ratio) because it may indicate manipulative link building activity and may be a fake Google image. We also evaluate this ratio taking into account industry-specific characteristics.
We check with which anchor texts, such as
Your website is linked.
We recommend that the linkers use different anchor texts and only use “hard” links (especially money keywords) well, that is, rarely use them. A sub-optimal anchor text profile (Figure 1) can lead to an algorithmic or manual Google penalty. Unnatural backlink profile with money-keyword anchor texts. The graph shows an algorithmic Google Penalty, due to the hard-linked keyword link lyrics
Which top-level domains (TLDs), such as .de, .com, .at, are your sites most frequently linked? We determine if the site under investigation (language and target market) correlates with the TLDs of the linking domains. Search engine optimization links that point to a German website (with the TLD .de) with a target market in Germany and Austria, but come from Polish (.pl) or English (.co.uk) websites, arouse suspicion, both with us and with Google.
The linking domains are checked manually by us , so that we can get an overview of the various link sources / link types such as
and their weighting (share) in the backlink profile . With this foundation, we are able to create a more effective off-page strategy.
During the manual analysis of the backlinks, we make sure that the links to your website have been placed relevant to the topic and have been meaningfully integrated on the page : Are the linking pages at the domain level as well as the content of the page containing the link thematically suitable for the link target? , are the anchor texts well chosen? Are the backlinks placed in such a way that they are actually clicked by the users (click probability)? We especially recommend to avoid Foote-r and Sidebar- (site-wide) links and to mark special links with “rel = nofollow”.
A holistic analysis of the backlinks prepares the creation of the optimal OffPage strategy and is helpful in determining the further measures . Among other things, we recommend, on a case by case basis, dismantling, changing or disavowing the existing and suspicious backlinks. We will show you the weak points of your backlink profile and describe the optimal form of link building in the respective thematic environment. We create for you an individual link building offer without long-term contract.
After agreement, we implement the link removal and the conversion of individual links and prepare the Disavow list. The disavow of a backlink is our last option, which we meet and recommend. Afterwards, we take care of building up organic and topic-relevant links in order to place your website with the desired subpages on the top positions on Google in the long term.
You will receive detailed reports on the established / dismantled / disavowed backlinks. On top of that, we monitor the results of the OffPage optimization measures as well as the changes in the rankings.
