Part 1 about basic steps of search engine optimization.
1. The domain selection
The domain should contain the keyword under which I would like to be found . Of course, the ideal case is the following: www.Keyword.de, but in most cases such domains will be out of print, in this case we have to resort to a combination of two keywords , or we combine the search term with the company name. Important here is to separate the search terms with a hyphen , because if the search terms combine this results from a Sumazin view a new word and according to keywordkeyword is certainly not looking for.
2. The design of the page
Pay attention to the following points:
Waiver of Flash (Flash is also not read).
Give your files and subdirectories names that contain keywords .
Keep your page nice and flat, so make sure that each page from the main page with max. 3 clicks to reach, if this is not possible create a sitemap which can be reached from your homepage. This ensures that your page is captured faster and above all completely.
If it is possible somehow create your navigation with simple text links , the graphics can not read a search engine synonymous
3. Meta tags
Here is an example of meta tags that you like to use:
< meta name = ” author ” content = ” Author of the website ” />
< meta name = ” publisher ” content = ” publisher of the website ” />
< meta name = ” copyright ” content = ” 2003 Company ” />
< meta name = ” keywords ” content = ” Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3, Keyword4, …. ” />
< meta name = ” description ” content = ” This is a clean description of your web page, so it’s best to start with the keyword most important for this page ” />
< meta name = ” page-topic ” content = ” Internet Services ” />
< meta name = ” audience ” content = ” All ” />
< meta name = ” expires ” content = ” NEVER ” />
< meta name = ” page-type ” content = ” Commercial Organization ” />
< meta name = ” robots ” content = ” INDEX, FOLLOW ” />
Author: This day is ignored by most search engines, but that does not mean that you can not use it. Here the author of the website belongs.
Publisher: Also this day is paid no attention.
Copyright: – This day can actually be omitted, I have found no effect on the search engines. But there are designers and programmers who use this day, so I’ve listed him here
Keywords: This day has been very important in the past, but is nowadays only noticed by a few search engines. Google, for example, gives this day as it seems little or no attention anymore, here is increasingly focused on the title, headlines and body text.
Describtion: The description should be given more attention, this tag is used by the search engines not only to display the description, but also to determine the relevance of individual search terms. It’s best to begin the description with the keyword most relevant to the page
Page Topic: A now actually useless day, since the fewest search engines still maintain a directory that is automatically generated from search engine registrations.
Audience: This tag indicates for which user groups your website is intended, there are search engines with child protection filters that filter erotic content, here is also paid attention to this day. However, the search engines also pay attention to the words that appear on your homepage.
Expires : This tag only really makes sense if you put a temporary offer or a newspaper article on the net, which should no longer appear in the result lists after Aublauf this period. About the function and the attention of the tag in the individual search engines, I can not give any information, because I have not performed any tests here.
Page Type: A day that, in my opinion, is ignored by most search engines. I have found in tests no effect on the listing in sum machines.
Robots: A very important day at first glance – because it tells the search engine whether it is allowed to index my pages, whether or not you can follow links. But I have often noticed that search engines like Google do not pay attention to this day. If you want to prevent the indexing of a page do it with the robots.txt.
Put meaningful titles , these titles should always contain 2-3 relevant keywords, if possible, but not more than 55 characters.
< title > Keyword1 Keyword2 Keyword3 – Company </ title >
This title will be listed at the top of the browser as well as in the search results. Google pays special attention to the title And a visitor will click on your link with high probability if the word he is looking for appears in the link text.
4. Which keywords do I need? Which keywords are really wanted?
That’s the question that can decide the success or failure of your website! But how do I find out if Lieschen Müller is now looking for “slippers” or “slippers”?
There are some tools that can give us clues:
Google Keyword Suggestions Google’s keyword suggestion
tool. This suggestion tool is intended for Adwords customers but can also be used for optimization purposes. Simply enter the generic term and already the tool will output many terms that will be searched for in connection with the entered word.
Overture Keyword Suggestion
Here are keyword suggestions (combinations) of words that are associated with the keyword. Overture is a pay per click provider that offers this tool to its affiliates to make their PPC programs effective.
