To find out if your goal is achievable ( Achievable ), you need to know where you are going.

For point not want to appear on the first page of Google within a month, if you are starting from scratch.

You have to understand where you are going.

In this article we will see how to rescue the most important data to understand what is the current position of your site.

Just from that, you can understand what can be improved on your site at any given time.

To understand the current status of your site in the organic searches, you need to do an analysis of SERP (Search Engine Results Page).

The SERP is simply the page of search engine search results .

How to SERP analysis?

For a SERP analysis, you need to understand what are the main keywords you want to work.

If you have an ecommerce to sell fashion accessories , clearly trying to rank for the word fashion accessories will be at the same time:

  • Difficult – For it is a word with a high level of competition ;
  • Ineffective – it is a very generic word.

So the first thing to do is to focus on more specific keywords to your segment.

For example, suppose you sell bracelets for women , need to see how your site ranks for these keywords.

How to do this?

The more manual way is to search the keyword on Google, the first page, and then the second page, third and will give up when your site appears.

Boring right?

Obviously you have platforms that let you do this faster.

The platform we use is No Rush .

  • In the figure above we see that the site of our example,  meusite.com.br, does exist, even if clearly not a ecommerce selling bracelets for woman.
  • Already this screen we see that the website shows:

    1. an estimate of organic ranking (orange arrow)
    2. estimates of paid ranking (green arrow – is zero because this site does not work the Sponsored Links )

By clicking on the little arrow indicating the Purple ( organic search ), we enter the dashboard that shows some details you love about the organic placement site .

Dashboard No Rush for organic positioning

Dashboard SEMRush – Organic Positioning

Analyzing this Dashboard see the example site ranqueia by 3 keywords ;

The Dashboard shows more below what these 3 keywords and site positioning in relation to each of them.

As expected, none of these words have nothing to do with the word bracelets for woman.

This information is very important because not only do you need to know how your site ranqueia the relevant keywords.

You also need to know if the keywords that show your site are relevant or not.

Only then you will understand if your target audience that is looking for your site or someone not relevant to their Business .

In the same Dashboard we see a graph showing the site’s behavior before the keywords over time.

We see in this case that the behavior of this site goes worse with time and now ranqueia with fewer keywords compared to February 2014,  when ranqueava by three words in the first three places and three words in positions between 4 and 10 (orange arrow) .

If you need to see the positioning for a word specific key, you can enter the same in the window shown by the green arrow ( filter by keyword) .

Clearly in our example it is not necessary to do this because the site is ranqueando only by 3 keywords, so has no way to look beyond these.

Whatsmyserp - add row

Once inserted all the keywords for analysis , click the check all keywords and see the status of your site before its competitors.

In this analysis you will see both competitors you indicated, as others who ranqueiam in the first 29 pages of Google (300 positions in organic search).

Obviously in our example we can see that none of the listed sites appear in the first 300 seats, simply because both the site of the example, as those indicated competitors are fictitious.

How to read the results of Whatsmyserp.com

In the figure below we see the 3 most important indices to understand the positioning of your site.

Whatsmyserp key data

Orange small arrow indicates the  R,  which is the positioning of websites on search keyword analyzed.

The green arrow T indicates whether the domain has the keyword in the Meta Title, which is the title / call that appears blue in organic search.

We can see in this example that only the site stylight.com.br  (position 4) shows the keyword bracelets for woman  in the title.

The blue arrow indicates D, the Meta Description. Ie, it shows whether the keyword is present or not in the description of the identified page. This is one more well explained textinho which is below the blue link from the search results, you know?

Lower down we see that the platform indicates that the site of our example is not present in the first 300 seats.

What we expected.

Interestingly, this analysis is to see how all competitors ranqueiam better than the site of our example, actually have the relevant words, not in the title or description.

This indicates a great opportunity because it means that these sites are not optimized for these keywords.

So it will be less difficult to improve website ranking of our example, with a good optimization work .

Conclusion

In order to make SEO work , we always say that not only fill the site keywords .

Before leaving optimizing the pages of your site, you need to understand your goal and then implement a viable strategy .

For it has several online free options , we saw the No Rush  and oWhatsmyserp , but there is much more analysis tools, for example Google Search Console that dialogues directly with Google .
