We already know that SEO keywords are those terms, phrases or even sentences that are used to get a list of results in a search engine.

In general there are 5 types of SEO keywords:

  • General keyword
  • Long tail keywords
  • Informative keywords
  • Commercial keywords
  • Transactional keywords

To fully understand the meaning of each type of SEO keyword will allow us to perform a search for keywords more effective and focused entirely on profitability and positioning a web page for any of these four objectives:

  • Promote a business online
  • Get online customers
  • Earn money with a web page
  • Get better results with Adwords campaigns

I will now explain each of the types of keywords.

Type 1: Keyword or general key phrase

Actually it corresponds to any keyword that throws a set of results in a search engine. For example:

re cycling cans
for dog collars

Type 2: Long tail keywords (Long tail keywords)

Long-tail keywords correspond to all those keywords that are actually terms of three or more words. Even long-tail keywords can be sentences.

An example of a long tail keyword would be:

perfumes for women with fruity aroma

Note that this keyword is actually a phrase composed of 5 search terms (of course, omitting “for” and “with”).

Type 3: Informative keywords

The informative keywords are all those keywords that are used to obtain information on any subject, which could be information about a product, a geographical region, how to do something, etc.

Informational keywords often start with questions like “what”, “how” or words like “best”, “forms”, “methods”, etc.

Let’s see some examples:

how to make my cat speak
better places to eat in the city X
methods to eliminate gray hair quickly

Type 4: Commercial keywords

Commercial SEO keywords are those words that denote a clear intention to obtain information about a product or service even when they are undecided about making a purchase or not. For example:

shampoos for hair growth
supplements to gain muscle mass

Type 5: Transactional keywords

Transactional keywords are those of a commercial nature that are used by users who are in the final phase of the purchase process or who have a genuine interest in taking an action, whether subscribing to a membership or requesting information about a service.
